About Me
I was born in Dallas, raised in Cleburne, and now call Roanoke home. Along the way I served in the United States Air Force, an experience that shaped much of who I am and continues to influence my writing. After my service, I returned to school and earned a B.A. in English Creative Writing from the University of North Texas in 2024. In Fall 2025 I began pursuing a second degree in History with the goal of continuing on to an M.A. in Creative Writing.
Life at home is full and meaningful. I am married, the father of three sons, and share the house with three pets. When I am not writing or studying, you will likely find me outdoors rucking or hiking, taking photographs, or learning something new. I am also an active member of The Strenuous Life program where I serve as a regional guide for Texas.
My philosophy is simple but grounding. Life is not a binary system, and there are no absolutes. I believe in living beyond an “us versus them” mindset while staying true to my principles and values. I strive to be a good steward of the world we all share. We only get one life, so I try to make the most of it, hold my dignity in the face of opposition, and remind myself that no one else is coming to be my hero. That responsibility is mine.
Right now my creative focus is split between two major projects. The first is an essay collection exploring my military experiences. The second is a memoir about the ways women have shaped the life and outlook of a Gen Xer. Both are deeply personal works that I hope will resonate with others.
